2020 AS A YEAR OF NURSES AND MIDWIVES DECLEARED BY WHO

2020 AS A YEAR OF NURSE AND MIDWIFE DECLARED BY WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION (WHO).

The year 2020 is the most challenging year with a lot of instabilities compass of Covid_19 pandemic, insecurity & many more. The nurses are front line health personal in the fight of corona virus pandemic despite it hazardous effect. 

As such, many nurses were became victims of deadly disease in an attempt to rescue the life of others while some lost their life in course. However, nurses provide care physically, emotionally/psychologically, spiritually, socially or otherwise. Nurses stay with patients 24hours/7 in the wards, emergency unit, general out patient department, dialysis centre, theater, & other relevant areas in the health care institutions (hospitals).

Moreover, nurses work as health educator, advocator, facilitator, communicator, collaborator, monitor, planner, etc. Consequently, the nurses possess the following qualities: 
_Caring
_Communication skills
_Empathy/Sympathy
_Problem solving skills
_Smart
_Stamina
_Punctual
_Sense of humor 
_Commitment to patient advocacy
_Willingness to learn
_Critical thinking
_Time management
_Leadership skills
_Experience
_Attention to detail etc
During the pandemic, many workers were restricted access to their working places except nurses that work day & night to ensure patients' comfortability, wellbeing & that to contain the pandemic.

Therefore, nurses deserve to be saluted for their selfless services to humanity be it individual, family or community. Indeed the effort can't be remunerated. May the upcoming year be more safer for nurses & uplift the status of nurses & nursing profession in general.
